How to control our mind from unwanted thoughts

You definitely know that if you are thinking something it is usually not easy to get rid of that specific thought. Even if you try to do so, it will keep coming back again and again; and then if you try to do something else with that thought in your mind you will get uncomfortable as you have not finished thinking. Sooner than later it will be like a grain of sand in the eye for you when you are trying to get rid of that unwanted thought.

In the same way when you are sad about anything, that unhappiness will not leave you easily; whatever you are trying to do to remove it. Sadness is not going to go away if you are trying to remove it, it does not matter how many times you are telling yourself not to be sad or not to think that thing which is disturbing you so badly.

Most of the people think that mind controls us, but it is not true!

Yeah, you read it right.

You are in charge of your mind and your mind is designed to follow your instructions; you surely can control it. It can allow you to experience amazing things if you want it to. But, if you consume it to negative thoughts then it will be a source of misery and pain.

If your mind is totally empty then see how is it now:

  • Creative – Allowing new ideas to come in
  • Full of energy – Not thinking anything negative so effort is reduced
  • Intuitive – receiving input from high level sources
  • Aware – embracing present experience and living the moment
  • Relaxed – Releasing anxiety and stress
  • Free – from worry and judgement
  • Peaceful – Living the peaceful life

Now let us see how to control our mind from unwanted thoughts:

  1. Not trying to push them away

It will create a bad feeling and will make you feel uncomfortable when you are thinking something negative. When this happens, you will try to push that away which is a sudden reaction from your side and that is natural. But, you should not do this; you ought not to push that specific thought away forcefully as you will not get rid of that thought this way. You tend to think more when you are trying to push that thought away which is a natural phenomenon.

Now, you might be thinking what else to do if you are not allowed to push that negative thought away? Allow that thought to come in as that will be a path to your freedom later on. Well, it is a secret if you allow it fully to pass though without effort then it will not waste your energy of pushing it back. So, you need to allow that thought you move through without wasting your energy and you will see how will it turn into positive energy.

Now, how will you allow that thought?

It means that you are going to let it through you without resisting and without giving attention.

Take it as a cloud passing by and keep it floating until it vanishes. If you are not getting it, just keep reading and you will get a better idea.

  1. Be conscious

You need to transmute your energy as it is a powerful way to get rid of bad thoughts, allow this light to shine and let you get rid of that thought. Do not try to analyse or judge the thought, and you must not get lost in that thought. When you are doing this, it will not pull your attention so it will not waste your energy as you are conscious.

All you have to do is that you should not lose your energy while you are paying attention to that thought.

  1. Removing attention

Now, it is clear that you need not to pay attention to that thought and need not to overthink anything. It all depends on your attention where you are paying it. The thought will not find any way in your mind when you are not paying attention to it as there is no way to survive.

That means, you need to stop feeding your attention to the thoughts; it is easier than it is looking. They attract you because you are paying the attention and you want to get rid of the same thing. You need to trust the fact that you can get rid of the thought when you are not paying attention and you can do that.

  1. Silence

It is a secret that stillness is going to help you and will keep you away from the negative thoughts. You need to make your silence and stillness your power so that you can remove negative thoughts from your mind and nothing in this world can trouble you afterwards.

When you are under attack of negative thought sit still, and here is how you are going to do this:

  • Lie down or sit peacefully
  • Bring your attention to the present moment
  • Feel the environment
  • Feel your body, feel your breath
  • Listen to the sounds around you
  • If there is any tension in your muscles, try to relax them
  • Scan your whole body and relax it

By doing this you will be fully aware of the present situation and negative thought will vanish away.

 

  1. Stop fearing

Do not feel fear from the thoughts you want to get rid of. Just think that it is a temporary energy that will vanish away in a short time. They are totally harmless until you allow them to damage you.

Now you know that how to control your mind from unwanted thoughts and you can easily remove them by following the steps mentioned above. This is only possible when you are allowing your mind to do so, when you are not allowing it and are not committed then you are not able to get rid of the negative thoughts.
